Woodturning: Make a Ballpoint pen

This is a Two Day Class. Please note the schedule for both days.

In this beginning woodturning class, create an acorn box!  Learn how to use high speed steel and carbide tools, and how to use a drilling attachment on the lathe.  Make an acorn hat out of walnut, using measurements to create a perfect seal as the lid of the box.  Then shape the main body, hollowing out a small storage compartment to keep special tiny treasures.

Instructor Bio:

Lila is a sculptor with 10 years of experience in the field, including turning on the lathe and carving wood and ice. She received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute, and spent years working at sculpture parks and museums around the US. Her teachers inspired her to continue honing her craft and to share woodturning with any and all eager students.

Skill level: This class is ideal for beginners ages 18 and over as well as 16 and 17 year-olds with parent or guardian permission. If you are an advanced student, you can join and go at a faster pace, or choose a more difficult pen style such as a rollerball or fountain pen.

Class Schedule: Class will run for 3 hours each day with no break planned.

Price: We have moved to a sliding scale pricing model while funding allows! Choose which tier fits your situation best:

$300 - Pay-It-Forward Ticket: Helps fund access for others.

$240 - True Cost Ticket: Covers the actual cost of running the class.
